Friday Fancies: 2/1/2013

A new month definitely means some new favourite things to share with you! I can't believe January is over already! 

The above video is amazing --it showcases an amazing interactive design installation in Montreal called 21 Balançoires (21 Swings) from design collective, Daily Tous les Jours. Swinging on the swings creates musical notes, and the more people who swing cooperatively, the more the music can change. This totally speaks to memories of swinging on the swings as a kid, of trying to reach the top of the sky and of never wanting to come back down. 

This Ramona Flowers cosplay is pretty fun. I might need to re-watch Scott Pilgrim vs. the World  now.

I love this idea of having an outdoor tea party and taking time to just listen from Maya made.

I love this tutorial for hand made buttons made from clay! (thanks Kate!)

Friday Fancies 05.11.12

I had a fun last few days--playing catch and frisbee in the park and then a word game (Perquackey is so great) with friends,  and mini-putting with work this afternoon for the company anniversary. I'm looking forward to a nice weekend of catching up on school work, crafty projects (I have a fun order of picnic blankets for a wedding party I'm working on) and some more lovely park walks if the weather stays so nice, as well as hopefully some hardcore organizing and getting rid of things (help, I'm going into the craft supplies and fabric!)

I may need a mug with  a ball of yarn on it like this one--so pretty!

I love this tutorial for turning an old book into an art journal, but not sure if I could actually cut up a book!

This way of doing collages is really interesting

I could totally fit a few good ideas in this awesome notebook

Some people just get it--especially on the topic of blogging!

Friday Fancies 5/4/2012

I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad this week is over so I can enjoy the awesome weather! Yesterday we went on a lovely wander about downtown, got amazing soft serve ice cream, and just enjoyed the sunshine! I'm hoping for a lot more of that this weekend, as well as some baking of tasty treats and giving the whole place a good tidy!

I love these clouds from the City of Craft show --amazing!

Friday Fancies on a Saturday

Well apparently I forgot to just hit publish on this last night, since we were running around preparing for a friend to visit us today--we have epic brunch and indoor picnicking planned, as well as some wine drinking and 30 Rock watching --what could be better? Enjoy and happy weekend!

Friday Fancies - 4/20/12

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you've had a good week so far, and have some lovely plans for the weekend. We're going to be having a belated Easter dinner possibly, as well as doing some relaxing and cleaning for another lovely friend who's visiting from Toronto next weekend . We'll also be planning a tasty meal we'll be eating too :)

Friday Fancies: Snow, Snow and more Snow!

Well I guess we got a lot of snow here last night, since the buses were not running for some of this morning, and it's pretty slippery and such outside. I'm off today for a meetup, and will hopefully get to snap some fancy snow pictures (why do trees always look so much cooler with snow on them? ) and hopefully get to take Jesse out for a dog walk later in the park, because I just can't get enough of watching him roll around doing dog snow angels in the new snow.

Nails inspired by literature? Yes please! Holy awesome Tin Tin nails!

This post from Chantilly from My Girl Thursday makes me need to watch more Arrested Development! Luckily we've just restarted watching the whole thing again to make a friend watch it !

I'm hoping to go and check out some of the events going on for Fourth Fridays here tonight. Do any of you have a similar thing in your city? I love things like this that promote creativity and the arts! I will definitely be on the hunt for the miniature ice robots around downtown!

Friday Fancies: Chilly Edition

I don't know how the weather is in your part of the world, but it's chilly, icy and cold here today, and I wish I could just cuddle up under blankies all day long! But sadly, this is not a part of being a grown-up; I have crafts to make and interviews to attend, and some stuff for school to catch up on, as well as going to a craft night later on! Maybe I can carry around a blanket with me? That's acceptable for adults to do, right?

Friday Fancies - Blanket Love & Easy Tutorials

I've been thinking a lot today about how I need more blankets. That warmth is a bit hard to find sometimes. That I never have a big enough linen closet to keep all my stuff. And that I'm still searching for that perfect couch blanket that's big enough for everyone to curl up under, that's big enough for two to have a nap or eat popcorn under. My parents had this sort of thick  fleecy blanket that I think we bought at Giant Tiger, emblazoned with the entire Simpsons family. Oh how I miss thee dear Simpsons blanket--you are the best couch blanket of all! But we also had a knitted blanket that was all squares crocheted together, that my mom made when she and my dad were first married, that was also an amazing couch blanket.

So today, I'll share a few images of fancy blankets I'm enjoying, as well as some tutorials so you can start on a big winter project yourself, if you haven't found your couch blanket yet either.

For the Granny Square blanket above, this tutorial from the Purl Bee is easy to follow- I find visual tutorials are the best.
