Things I made and saw: Parks, Pottery and Blended Drinks

It's been a busy, hectic week --I've been crazy busy at work, due to the regular lead being away in Cuba and me filling in, so lot of stress! It's been nice to do some relaxing things this weekend and unwind a bit. So here are a few photos from my weekend adventures for you to enjoy!

I've actually been getting to the studio a fair amount this week, so have gotten some pretty things made! Here's a few sneak peeks:

We walked by the market, but ended up with garage sale treasures and didn't end up going in :(

When we came back, we were super hot and thirsty, so the boy made up some homemade Orange Julius-type drinks in the blender. I've never had the real thing before, so I don't have a point of ocmparision, but they were mighty tasty, refreshing and energizing!

Today, I made a trip to the local clay-painting place,  Play with Clay and painted a cute gnome for my Dad for Father's Day (a little belated I know, especially given firing time).

I was technically crashing an 8 year old's birthday party, but since she's one of the Brownies, and was more hanging out with a friend who is one of the other Brownie leaders and helping to supervise, I didn't feel too badly :P I may have also eaten a lot of ice cream cake which always puts me in a good mood!

Knitting, Cookies, and Cute things

DSCF2388

I've been knitting some new socks of late from Knit Socks!: 17 Classic Patterns for Cozy Feet by Betsy McCarthy. There's a bunch of super cute socks in this book, that all seem to be relatively simple to make. I LOVE the ones on the cover and may also need to knit those, but am currently working on the Shadowbox socks (almost one sock done!)

I'm really enjoying the yarn I'm using also, which is a self striping bamboo yarn that I picked up at the Knitter's Fair in Kitchener last year.

It also feels really fulfilling to be able to knit more than a few rows at a time! I've been dealing with some evil repetitive strain-ness in my wrists and forearms for close to 10 months, and I'm *just* starting to really get better and not have to get everyone to carry things for me, use a talk to text program to type anything, and generally just sit around icing/heating my arms a lot/ So yeah, a nice change to just relax and knit me some fancy socks instead!

In other news,  the boy got me a cookie from the grand opening of the West End Bakery. It is super cute and made me smile. Also it was tasty. Nom.

As did cutie dog Jesse, who is feeling better after being pretty sick of late...silly pup, eating bad things like coffee grounds from the green waste. *waggles finger*

Other cute things include making my magic wand from Brownie camp into a plant stake for my Christmas cactus--it looks pretty festive, no?

Back to watching Hoodwinked for me (boy had never seen it and we were in the mood for something cute and entertaining, especially after attempting to watch (500 Days) of Summer and having to turn it off)

Anyways, hoping to get to some garage sales tomorrow morning, so off to finish my movie and to beds!

Garage sale Treasures and random adventures

Ending up waking up late this morning, but decided to take a jaunt up to the Guelph Food Bank's garage sale (largely because of the BBQ also happening) and bring the pooch for a nice long walk. I've been looking out for a picnic basket for awhile at a decent price (especially since my post about picnics)  and was pleased to find one, along with a few other little treasures! All in all, a successful day :) Plans for tasty picnics and picnic basket makeovers are in the works!

We then followed up the garage sale with tea at a church tea social, where we were the youngest people there by about 50 years. I was also wearing this shirt at the time:

Then I realized it had been ages since I went to the library, so went and got out some fun knitting and sewing books, as well as some comics to read (not pictured --Y the last man comics--the boy and I are currently reading through those.Something is awesome about hanging out and reading comics in the summer!)
I found a super sprouted onion in the onion bag and decided to plant it and see what happens --I think it looks purty!

And then we ate some cupcakes.  So. Good.

Happy weekend!

Things I made and Saw

Here's a little doodle I did when trying out some new alphabet stamps my fancy friend Kim got me for an early birthday prezzie

Here's a tasty chocolate tart that the boy made for our friends last week...I had some smaller ones but I ate them before photos could be taken (let's be honest, I ate them before they even cooled off and molten chocolate burned by mouth, but it was SO worth it)

Here's Jesse the super pup, after a much needed haircut took place

Some mighty tasty manicotti I made for a potluck yesterday in my new thrifted Pyrex baking dish --It's blue! So awesome!

Despite all the evil rain here of late, there have been some beautiful moments

This is Zentron, a friendly house robot who has recently undergone some mandatory repairs that have left him as good as new

 The seeds! They grow!! Finally!

And, in conclusion, Buddha and Martian Manhunter just do NOT get along -- any tips on how to make them be friends again?

Photo Friday : Trees I love

I have sort of a thing about trees; there's nothing like going on a walk on a wooded trail, surrounded by these old friends.

Access to a trail close to home has almost become a mandatory thing that I look for with each new apartment along with the basic things like laundry and a grocery store close by.
