Pictures of Snow : Trying to Keep Cool

Due to the extreme heat warning today here in Guelph, I am melting, even in the air conditioning of the office. I'm dreading going outside again, and cranky from lack of sleep from last night.

Does anyone else ever look at pictures of snow in the summer to keep cool? I always find myself wanting to watch Christmas movies in the dead of summer, just to look at snow and trick my brain into feeling cool.

Here are the snow pictures that are keeping me cool today, largely from my love, Pinterest.

There, did that work? Do you feel cooler yet?

Lazy Summer Days- B&W Photo Challenge

I don't know about you, but I'd love to be out in the sunshine right now, swimming, eating watermelon and reading a good book. When I was a kid, I'd always get out the chaise lawn chair, grab a big glass of lemonade, and sit in the sun, re-reading Little Women for the umpteenth time.

Here's Jesse, enjoying some watermelon

What's your favourite summer book that you keep coming back to?

Happy Trails and Sidewalk chalk

We went on a sunny walk with the pooch tonight, and were out enjoying the nice weather

We were enjoying the new stretch through Guelph of the TransCanada trail that's still being worked on. Is a nice walk through the park and

Oh, and I was wearing my fancy new brooch today that I won in a giveaway from PunkrawkPurl and Restless Hearts Crafts! Look how purty!

Also, gaze upon the loveliness of my fancy lace shawl that I finished awhile ago! It's from a Needful yarns pattern, and knitted in 3 different colourways of Needful Geranium (which sadly seems to be discontinued)

We also ran across some ridiculously cute and amusing chalk drawings! I miss those days when I used to graffiti things around downtown TO with my roommate  use chalk to draw hopscotch boards when I was a kid.

In case you can't read this, it says "I may look innocent now, but as son as we are along I will EAT YOU!" Du dun DAHH!"

Eventually, we have to come home again. All of us are not that pleased by this--some of us wanted to stay and play allll day.

Etsy Craft Party 2011--Crafty Picnic

DSCF2289

Etsy holds a yearly Craft Party day, and this year I decided to organize one for the Guelph area. I'm just in the process of working on my Etsy shop (well, really opening another one that has a similar name to my blog/Twitter etc ) I thought it would be useful to meet up with some like-minded crafty folk. So, I decided a crafty potluck picnic would be super fun !

So add in some picnic blankets

And you got yourself a mighty fantastic picnic!!

Not to mention I got a birthday gift or two from a few of my friends who showed up which is always nice!
Look--my friend and one of his friends make these fabulous cheeto pins--I am now the proud owner of one:

I can now imitate celebrities such as Jason Schwartzman who has worn one in past! I don't know if I could pull off the mustache though....

Although I did colour a fancy mustache at the picnic (thanks to fun colouring sheets in Etsy's craft party kit) , so you never know! Perhaps another mustache party will happen one of these days :)

All in all, a successful craft party!
