Sweater back |
I've been working on this sweater forever --I've basically had to reknit a lot of it, since the front pieces and sleeves ended up not matching and I had to fix them. ( Pro Tip--knit pieces like sleeves and fronts at the same time so they always match!)
Anyways, the other day I finally finished all the pieces of the sweater (back, sleeves and fronts) and started on the ribbing when I realized I WAS OUT OF YARN. This is a knitter's nightmare, to get this far and run out of yarn, especially out of a yarn that you bought so long ago that it's NO LONGER EVEN SOLD.
Luckily, there's a happy ending to this story, as I went on a trip to my local craft store, Len's Mill, and found a replacement yarn to make the edging for the sweater as well as to let me sew the whole sweater together. It has enough of the same colours as the original yarn in it that it doesn't look too odd on the edging of my sweater, and just enough different colours to add a fun design feature to my sweater. I love the edging now, and am working hard when I have a spare moment to get this sweater done before the cold weather hits.
Wish me luck!

So glad you were able to turn it into a win! The sneak peek looks amazing. I can't wait to see the sweater on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks lady! I'm excited to get it done one of these days too!
DeleteThe colours look amazing together, really can't wait to see the finished piece! I'd love to be able to design and create my own items... need to get practicing I think! xx

Thanks! I enjoy the colours a lot too...it may take me awhile to finish sewing it together and do the front and neck bands of the sweater, but hopefully I'll finish before we're too far into sweater weather (and I'll definitely show a reveal!)
