5 Things I Hate about Packing

1.  Getting enough boxes to pack all my stuff. At times like this, I wish I was able to surround myself with as few possessions as the people in this photo series. (photo above)

2. Finding the end of the tape roll...over and over again. I appear to not have a tape gun any more and it is making me full of the sad.

3. Packing up all my lovely book friends for weeks and weeks at a time. I like to be able to gaze at my rows of books on the shelves and think of the ton of money I spent on my English degree.

4. Bare walls - pictures are always the first things to get taken down, and the sight of the chipped paint and random nails is a bit depressing.

5. Towering stacks of boxes - I keep stubbing my toes on these things and am a bit worried the dog is going to knock a stack over on himself.

But it will all be worth it, right? I guess I just wasn't expecting to have to move THIS weekend! Wish me luck friends--I'll post some more pictures of the new place once the craziness of packing and moving is over and we're a bit more settled in.

  1. I feel your pain. I am moving too. I have 13 years worth of crap between a husband and two kids. We are making the move in a few days. I recently wrote a post about my current frustrations too.
We grin and bear it for the end result.

  4. You know what is worse than moving? Unpacking (and taxes)! Eugh! I'm still not unpacked from our move in September and I'm not about to start. I feel your pain though - I dread the day I need to move again...

    1. Ugh don't even make me think about that part! Hopefully while unpacking I get rid of most of the things I own. Or just leave half of them here, lol!

  5. I feel the same way about packing! I've moved sooo many times. I have definitely had a few fights with the tape roll and the mounting stacks of boxes. I would also add address changes with all the accounts, post office, etc.... ahhh

  6. Hi! You just followed my on Twitter, and I'm in the best kind of shock:
#1. You are a Gillian?! With a G? Moi aussi!
#2. You are in Guelph? I did my undergrad there, but now I live 45 min away in Orangeville... but compared to all the bloggers I follow around the world, Guelph still seems like next door!
    #3. You are crafty? Awesome!
To summerize: Your name is Gillian, and you like to sew. Hello doppleganger!
Forgive my excitement! Nice to "meet" you! (Did we actually meet last night at the Etsy thing in Hamilton? I don't recognise you, but that seems like the obvious way you would have found me?)
